Plymouth Argyle will complete their last of three
consecutive games at Home Park this afternoon when they entertain York City in
Npower League Two. The newly promoted
side from the Conference Premiere have been in fine form this season sitting in
14th position with 27points from 21 league games; this is an average
of 1.2points per game.
York City will make their first visit to Plymouth since
2002; the Minstermen will come to Home Park in high spirits as there last 10 away
games have consisted in 4 wins and 5 draws.
York’s last away defeat came at Burton Albion when they lost 3-1 on
September 19th.
As the fixture table stands Plymouth Argyle will travel the
short distance up the A38 to St James Park to face Devon Rivals Exeter City
next Saturday, 15th December. With Plymouth Argyle not winning in 9
league and cup games, the 3points would be a huge boost for everyone involved
with Argyle: players, staff, management staff and the fans. Argyles last 3points came at Home Park when
they faced Rochdale on Saturday 20th October when the Pilgrims won
the encounter 3-1, with goals coming from Guy Madjo (2) and Argentine winger
Andres Gurrieri.
Suspensions have been the story of Argyles League this
season. Players such as Conor Hourihane,
Darren Purse and Durrell Berry have all been sent off this season. Captain Darren Purse, who has been put on the
transfer list this week, will make his way back into the squad this afternoon
after the defender has served his three match ban. The Londoner was sent off in the game against
Fleetwood at Highbury Stadium where he was given a straight red card for an off
the ball incident. Now Durrell Berry
another defender will serve a one match suspension after being red carded in
the Johnstone Paint Trophy Area Quarter Final at home to Oxford. The former Aston Villa youth prospect picked
up two bookable offences in the game, this will mean that he will sit out the
game today against York City.
Carl Fletcher will have a huge decision to make with Darren
Purse coming back into the squad. Conor
Hourihane has been replacing Purse as captain for the last three games with him
suspended. How will get it today?
Alex MacDonald will be unavailable for the game today as his
loan expired after the game on Tuesday evening.
As Carl Fletcher signed the fans favourite in the emergency loan window
the player can only stay at the club for a three month period. Darren Purse will be looking to come straight
back into the starting 11 after missing the last couple of game through
suspension. Luke Young will also be determined to push for a starting 11 place
after he has been absent through a shoulder injury. Argyles top scorer in the youth prospect
Tyler Harvey will be looking to get into the squad after he made his home debut
on Tuesday after he came on for Paris Cowan-Hall in the game against
Oxford.
