Plymouth Argyle will return to the Home Park playing field
on Saturday when they face 15th place Dagenham & Redbridge, who have
lost their last two matches.
With the January Transfer Window closing at 11pm on Thursday
evening there were a lot of ins and outs at Plymouth Argyle throughout January. Both Robbie Williams and Rhys Griffiths had their
contracts terminated by mutual consent to peruse first time football elsewhere. Attacking midfielder Joe Lennox was also
released by the Devon club after John Sheridan decided on not offering the
Bristol Born a new contract after his previous one ran out on 31st
January. Joe will be best remembered for
equalising goal at St James Park with a spectacular shot. John Sheridan was able to make one more
signing before the window closed.
Crystal Palace midfielder Jason Banton joined Argyle on a one month loan
deal on Thursday and will be available up to and including the Barnet game on
Saturday 2nd March. During January there was much talk of League
One and Two clubs interested in Zimbabwe International Onismor Bhasera. Fortunately the former Kaiser Chiefs defender
remains at Home Park much of the relief from the green army.
The last time the two teams met was in 2012 on August 2nd. In this game at the The L.B. Barking &
Dagenham Stadium both teams thought out a very hard earned 0-0 draw, which was
watched by Olympian Argyle fan Greg Searle.
From the team that former Argyle manager Carl Fletcher named, present
manager John Sheridan will be naming a totally different team with only a
couple of players that played in the draw that day, will be named in the side to
face the Daggers at Home Park. Dagenham
& Redbridge’s last visit to Home Park also produced a goalless draw. With
the team eager to pick up a massive three points, on Saturday afternoon, John
Sheridan will be looking to create an attacking style in the team.
John Still’s Dagenham & Redbridge will be looking to get
back to winning ways against Argyle at Home Park after they have lost two games
on a bounce. There last defeat came last
Saturday at home to Morecambe where they lost 2-1 to the Shrimps. The Daggers last victory came on 12th
January where they defeated Rochdale 2-1 at The L.B. Barking & Dagenham
Stadium.
Nick Chadwick, Warren Feeney and Gozie Ugwu will all be unavailable
for Saturdays Npower League Two’s encounter against Dagenham & Redbridge. Nick Chadwick will be serving his third match
ban after the striker was handed a six match suspension from his actions that
he took when Argyle visited Port Vale. The
other two absentees will be Warren Feeney and Gozie Ugwu. These two players are currently unavailable due
to ankle injuries that they picked up. The
Reading loanee picked up the injury in the last few moments of last Friday’s
training session, whilst International striker Warren Feeney injured his ankle
in the first few minutes of the victory over Morecambe. John Sheridan’s transfer deadline signing
Jason Banton will be looking to go straight into the starting line-up after he
arrived on-loan from Crystal Palace on Thursday afternoon.
Sheridan will also be without goalkeeper Rene Gilmartin; he picked up
a hamstring injury in the closing stages of the first half last Saturday. From
this it will give Jake Cole the opportunity to impress John Sheridan as he has
been a substitute goalkeeper since Rene Gilmartin took over in goal on Saturday
10th November 2012 in the 2-2 draw against Gillingham.
